Inspection, Testing & Maintenance
Monthly/Quarterly Inspections
- Visual inspection of each extinguisher for damage, corrosion, leaks, or missing parts
- Verify extinguisher is in its designated location, properly mounted, and clearly visible
- Check pressure gauge/indicator is in the operable range (where applicable)
- Confirm safety pin and tamper seal are intact
- Inspect hose/nozzle condition and ensure discharge path is unobstructed
- Verify labeling, operating instructions, and signage are legible
- Review service tags and confirm inspection intervals are current
Annual Testing & Maintenance
- Perform annual maintenance per extinguisher type and manufacturer requirements
- Internal/external condition check as applicable (including verification of weight for CO2 units)
- Replace tamper seals and update service tags/labels
- Recharge service as needed (low pressure, partial discharge, or required maintenance)
- Evaluate units for required internal maintenance intervals and hydrostatic testing due dates
- Replace worn components (o-rings, hoses, nozzles, valves) as needed
